Start with the date

The DNR publishes its septage hauling business licences as a report that stamps its own run date. That date is June 30, 2023, and the DNR has not re-run it since. A list that old will contain businesses that have closed, changed hands or let a licence lapse, and will be missing anyone licensed since.

The DNR asks anyone who needs a current copy to email DNROpCertSeptage@Wisconsin.gov. If you are about to hire, that email is the check — this directory cannot tell you whether a licence is still good, and neither can the published PDF.

Two things Wisconsin publishes that help

Each licence carries a number and an operator in charge: the certified person the DNR holds answerable for the work at that business. Both appear on every card here. When you call, the operator in charge is a useful name to ask for and to check against.

What the report does not publish is an expiration date, so no card shows one. A licence number on a 2023 report is evidence the business was licensed then, not now.
